WHEW. So---so I've got kids, now. I'm going to be meeting my genin later for our first 'bonding session' later this week. I went to each of their homes yesterday to talk with their parents and introduce myself. I thought it'd be a good idea, 'cause I'll definitely be a big part of these kids' lives until they reach Chuunin.

I, uh. I guess the Yamamotos haven't had much contact with the Akimichi clan before. I almost broke their chair...it was definitely not Akimichi-stable... Momma Yamamoto said I was "more distinguished" than she'd expected. I'm pretty much guessing that she didn't think I would be as large as I am, and I guess I can't blame my size for scaring her. She is sending her baby girl to a pretty scary profession, and...I can empathize with that. I hope I was friendly enough to not terrify her witless.

The meetings with the Ganko and Tengoku families went fine by comparison. My nerves were kinda shot after sitting through dinner and having Fujiko-kun's mother dissect me and my intentions with her eyes, so I figure anything would be better than repeating that meal. Enya and Ryuusuke's parents weren't nearly as critical; I think they knew of me, or at least of my family, and they trust Naruto's decisions.

I'll be a good teacher for them, I think. I'll do my best by them.

Their first exercise in teamwork will be to make breakfast together. It makes my heart sore to let three twelve-year-olds loose in my kitchen with virtually no supervision, but I'll learn a lot about their natural dynamics from the exercise. I just hope they don't ruin my pots.

That's a pretty leap of faith, letting those kids into your kitchen. ♥

You are a brave, brave man. The first time Kurenai-Sensei let me in her kitchen I was banned from it for a long, long time. I'll be happy if my kids can cook better than me. Good luck.
